How it Works

VuCast provides one-to-many wireless broadcasting of data objects and media streams over licensed-band wireless spectrum. VuCast uses frequencies that overlap with existing FM radio station allocations, allowing VuCast to partner with local radio broadcasters to leverage their existing radio transmission infrastructures. This provides for fast network build-out times, avoiding traditional wireless build-out delays due to real estate acquisition and site construction.

VuCast's content management system (CMS) accepts media files and streams, and encodes them for optimal simultaneous transmission to all authorized VuCast receivers within the transmitter service area. The end-to-end network is highly secure, featuring VPN CMS access, over-the-air encryption, and one-way, intrusion-proof transmission.

Coverage Advantage

A single VuCast transmitter can cover hundreds of square miles and reach millions of end-points. High-power VuCast signals are carried in 100MHz "beachfront property" radio spectrum, with reach and building penetration characteristics far exceeding higher frequency, lower power cell phone tower transmissions. The result is that most metro areas can be blanketed with coverage from a single transmitter site – even extended metro areas rarely require more than a few. VuCast has launched networks on five continents and is adding new markets monthly.

Cost Advantage

With cellular data networks, sending a file to a million subscribers uses a million times the capacity as sending it to one – and data charges scale directly with the number of recipients. With VuCast, the incremental cost for each recipient is minimal – your costs are based primarily on how much you send, not how many you send to. You can now afford to deliver rich media content to millions of users, enabling wireless connectivity for devices that were too expensive to reach using cellular.
